Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith was a Boston cabinetmake operating in Boston, Mass in the 19th century. He began as a relatively small artisan and built his trade into a substantial firm with three partners.
He carried out a brisk trade in the manufacture of office and church furniture, cabinetry and clocks. He is first listed in the directory in 1829. This piece was part of the collection of a local premier. A rare find with the cabinetmaker's stamp in the top left drawer that establishes the date of the piece to be the 1840's.
